Glass safety film — frequently asked questions

Straight answers on what VitraGuard glass safety film is, what it costs, how installation works, and where we operate. If your question isn't here, message us on WhatsApp or send an enquiry and we'll answer honestly.

About the film

What is glass safety film?
Glass safety film is a clear, polyester-based film applied directly to your existing glass. If the glass is struck or breaks, the film is designed to help hold the fragments together rather than letting them scatter — reducing the risk of injury from flying or falling glass. VitraGuard fits a 12-mil safety film to homes, businesses, and vehicles across Dubai.
How is glass safety film different from window tint?
Window tint is made primarily for solar, heat, and glare control. Glass safety film is engineered to hold glass together on impact — they solve different problems. VitraGuard's 12-mil film is a safety film: its job is fragment retention, and we do not market it as a solar or heat-control product.
Does safety film block heat or UV?
Our 12-mil film is designed for glass safety — helping retain fragments if glass breaks. We do not currently publish heat-rejection or UV figures for it, and it should not be chosen as a solar or heat-control product. If reducing heat or glare is your main goal, tell us when you enquire so we can advise you honestly.
Is the film visible after installation?
Properly installed, the film is virtually invisible. It is optically clear, so in normal conditions there is no visible tint, distortion, or film line — your glass and your view look unchanged.
Will the film reduce natural light?
The film is clear and designed to keep interiors bright. Exact light-transmission figures depend on the final film specification and can be confirmed when you enquire.

Installation

How long does installation take?
It depends on the glass area and access. A typical villa is usually completed in one to two days; commercial and hospitality projects are scheduled individually and can be carried out overnight or in phases to avoid disruption.
Will installation disrupt my home or business?
We work area by area and clean as we go, so most of the property stays usable throughout. For occupied homes we typically complete one zone at a time; for hotels, offices, and retail we can work outside business hours.
Do you work in occupied properties?
Yes — most residential installations are in occupied homes. Our installers work discreetly and coordinate access arrangements with you in advance.
Who installs the film?
Installation is carried out by experienced film installers. Professional fitting matters for both the finish and the film's performance, so it is part of every VitraGuard project. See how it works for the full process.

Pricing & process

How much does glass safety film cost?
Film supply is AED 300 per linear metre with delivery included (rates are pre-VAT). Installation is tiered: AED 400/m up to 10 m, AED 280/m for 11–20 m, and a custom quote above 20 m. 5% UAE VAT is added on top. You can estimate your cost with the calculator on our pricing page.
Can I get an instant cost estimate?
Yes — the cost calculator on our pricing page gives a transparent estimate using the same rates above, including VAT. Larger projects — a full roll of film, or installations over 20 metres — are confirmed with a custom quote.
How do I get a quote?
Tell us about your glass through the quote form or on WhatsApp. Where needed we arrange a site survey to confirm the glass area and access before giving you a detailed quote.
Do you offer maintenance or aftercare?
Yes. Every installation comes with simple aftercare guidance on cleaning and care. Ask our team about the options available for commercial and high-value residential projects.

Coverage & company

Where do you operate?
Dubai is our primary service area, covering residential communities, commercial districts, and hotel zones. We serve the wider UAE and GCC by arrangement. The emergency kit ships across the UAE and GCC.
Are your films certified?
Technical specifications for the 12-mil film are available on request when you enquire. We do not publish specific certification claims on the site — please ask us for the documentation relevant to your project.
Do you provide a warranty?
Warranty terms depend on the final film specification and the scope of work, and are confirmed in writing at installation. Ask our team for the terms that apply to your project.
Do you work with interior designers and architects?
Yes. We work with designers, architects, and project managers on both new-build and renovation projects, providing specifications, samples, and installation scheduling that fits your programme.
