Glass safety film — frequently asked questions

Straight answers on what VitraGuard glass safety film is, what it costs, how installation works, and where we operate. If your question isn't here, message us on WhatsApp or send an enquiry and we'll answer honestly.

About the film

Glass safety film is a clear, polyester-based film applied directly to your existing glass. If the glass is struck or breaks, the film is designed to help hold the fragments together rather than letting them scatter — reducing the risk of injury from flying or falling glass. VitraGuard fits a 12-mil safety film to homes, businesses, and vehicles across Dubai.
Window tint is made primarily for solar, heat, and glare control. Glass safety film is engineered to hold glass together on impact — they solve different problems. VitraGuard's 12-mil film is a safety film: its job is fragment retention, and we do not market it as a solar or heat-control product.
Our 12-mil film is designed for glass safety — helping retain fragments if glass breaks. We do not currently publish heat-rejection or UV figures for it, and it should not be chosen as a solar or heat-control product. If reducing heat or glare is your main goal, tell us when you enquire so we can advise you honestly.
Properly installed, the film is virtually invisible. It is optically clear, so in normal conditions there is no visible tint, distortion, or film line — your glass and your view look unchanged.
The film is clear and designed to keep interiors bright. Exact light-transmission figures depend on the final film specification and can be confirmed when you enquire.

Installation

It depends on the glass area and access. A typical villa is usually completed in one to two days; commercial and hospitality projects are scheduled individually and can be carried out overnight or in phases to avoid disruption.
We work area by area and clean as we go, so most of the property stays usable throughout. For occupied homes we typically complete one zone at a time; for hotels, offices, and retail we can work outside business hours.
Yes — most residential installations are in occupied homes. Our installers work discreetly and coordinate access arrangements with you in advance.
Installation is carried out by experienced film installers. Professional fitting matters for both the finish and the film's performance, so it is part of every VitraGuard project. See how it works for the full process.
